Olympus, EndoRobotics Ink Distro Deal for Robot-Assisted Endoscopy Tech

Olympus has signed an exclusive global distribution agreement with EndoRobotics. Under the agreement, robot-assisted technologies made by EndoRobotics will be distributed globally by Olympus exclusively, as part of its EndoTherapy portfolio.

The company hopes to broaden patient access to endoscopic procedures for treatment of early-stage cancers and precancerous lesions of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Physicians undergoing endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) may allow for less procedural risk by removing diseased tissue without resecting the organ. They can also enable less procedural risk, fewer post-treatment complications, and shorter patient recovery, according to Olympus.

Olympus believes EndoRobotics technologies can boost precision, control, and efficiency in complex procedures like ESD. The agreement bolsters the company’s approach to advancing endoluminal robotics, bringing new tech that supports complex endoscopic therapy.

The companies will bring the new endotherapeutic solutions to global markets, beginning with the U.S., in an effort to advance safe and effective practice of third-space endoscopy using robot-assisted technologies.
